Turf infields. The Great Bend Tribune reported the synthetic turf project covered the infields and bullpens on all five fields, completed early in 2022 by Hellas Construction. The area's signature stop, about 20 minutes away: a free nature center with interactive exhibits on Cheyenne Bottoms and Quivira National Wildlife Refuge, run by Fort Hays State University with Kansas Wildlife and Parks and named a Star Wetland Centre in 2022 (Kansas Wetlands Education Center). No MLB park is within 45 minutes.

Turf infields (Great Bend Tribune); the outfield surface isn't stated in sources we found, so pack shoes for both turf and grass.
Central Kansas is hot, sunny and windy in summer: bring a canopy with weights, sunscreen and plenty of water.
Spring and summer storms build fast on the plains; keep rain gear and a layer in the car.
Bring folding chairs and a wagon for gear; hotels are only a couple of minutes away for a mid-day break.
