Field surface: Dirt infield, grass outfield
Dirt (clay) infields with natural grass. Blue Valley Recreation's executive director told KCTV5 in September 2026 that its fields are natural grass with clay infields, and that Blue Valley Rec is one of the few organizations left in the metro using only natural grass and clay infield fields. Blue Valley Rec's own article on grass versus turf explains why it sticks with natural grass for youth baseball and softball. (28 irrigated baseball/softball fields in three groups: East Fields (2-4), Main Fields (5-12) and North Fields (18-29), with four North fields added in 2026 (Blue Valley Recreation).)

Official pagePacking notes
- The infields are clay and the outfields natural grass, so footing can get muddy after rain: bring a towel, spare socks and a second pair of shoes.
- Kansas City summers are hot and humid: bring a canopy or other shade, sunscreen and plenty of water. Blue Valley Rec posts rainouts and weather delays on its website.
- With 28 fields spread over three groups, check which group your game is in (East 2-4, Main 5-12, North 18-29) and park near it.
- Bikes, scooters and outside alcohol aren't allowed and the complex is smoke-free; a wagon for chairs and coolers is the easy way to move gear.
